• Choose outfits that genuinely reflect your personality!
• Don’t make big last-minute changes: Everyone wants to look and feel their best for their headshots or business portraits, but be wary of doing drastic haircut or facial hair change right before. You want to feel like you!
• Minimal patterns or busy-ness: Keep the focus on you by wearing neutral and complimentary colours. Loud patterns or jewelry can be distracting. Obviously this rule flies out the window if those elements are integral to your personality or your business!
• Wear well fitting, clean clothes and avoid hot trends: A well-fitting outfit helps your professionalism shine, and sticking to classic styles and items mean that you can use your headshot for a long time without it feeling dated.
• Consult me: I’m here to help! Some clothes that look great in life don’t photograph well and vice versa. You’re welcome to bring a selection of outfits to your session – or to send some options via email ahead of time – and I’ll make sure that we choose an outfit that works!
