Fun in the studio with fabrics! | Professional Dance Photographer Vancouver, Surrey, & Richmond
Fabric Dance Creatives — Thank You for an Incredible Day
We wanted to send a big thank-you to everyone who joined us for our recent Fabric Dance Creatives. We had - as always! - such a great time working with you all in the studio and playing with those beautifully flowy fabrics. These sessions always have a really good energy and this one was no exception.
One thing we didn’t plan for (but loved) was that several siblings showed up which meant that we got to sneak in a few duo shots at the end of their individual sessions, which are always a blast. There’s something that just works when dancers who already know each other so well get to move together..
Why Fabric Dance Photography Works So Well
Fabric sessions are one of our favourite tried-and-true ways to create movement and shape when we shoot dance photography. The fabric adds drama and motion without taking attention away from the dancer themselves, and everyone brings their own flair to it with how they throw and interact with the fabrics.
Some dancers go bold and powerful, others soft and floaty (and both photograph great). These sessions are perfect if you’re looking for professional dance photography, but they’re also just a really fun way to try something different and step in front of the camera without pressure.
A Creative Experience (and a Thoughtful Gift)
We often hear from parents and dancers who are looking for a dance photoshoot gift idea; something meaningful that isn’t another costume bag or trophy shelf item. These sessions makes a great keepsake, especially for dancers marking a milestone like the end of a competition season or graduation.
Creative Photography Days for Local Lower Mainland Dance Studios
A little-known fact: we also bring our creatives to local dance schools (or cheerleading or gymnastics clubs!). If you’re part of a studio or club in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, South Surrey, Tsawwassen, White Rock, Langley or the surrounding Lower Mainland (we have schools in places like Squamish, too!) we can arrange a creative day just for your students - just email us!
These days work especially well for dancers (or studios!) looking to build ’ portfolios but they’re also just a great bonding experience - whether for dancers, gymnasts, or aerialists - and everyone walks away with images they’re genuinely excited to share.
We love hosting dancers from all over the Lower Mainland and we’re always excited to see new (and familiar) faces in the studio. If you joined us for this round of Fabric Dance Creatives, thank you for bringing such great energy. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
