Monochrome Group Creatives | Dance School in Richmond BC

January turned out to be a busy one for dance photos, and we loved kicking off the year with a creative session for Defy Gravity Dance Company in Richmond! We’ve been working with their dancers for many years now, and it’s always a highlight seeing familiar faces.

We see them every year for photo day, but this year we finally got to plan a Group Creative with them, using one of our Monochrome setups. The dancers rotated through both pink and grey backdrops, which kept things fresh and gave each dancer a nice mix of looks.

Most of the dancers were on the younger side, which brought such a fun energy. It's not only a blast for us, but it's always a good experience for them, to work with a professional photographer and to think and be aware of their bodies in space within the context of a photoshoot! We had our studio skirts available, which added a bit of flow and gave dancers something extra to play with during their photos.

Each dancer photographed individually, but there was still a real sense of togetherness throughout the day - these creatives always feel like a bonding experience as much as a photo session. In the end, everyone walks away with photos that work for portfolios, keepsakes, or art pieces that reflect their love of dance.

We always enjoy creating dance photos that dancer, families, and studios can feel excited about. Images that are polished and professional, but still full of personality and that serve our dance community and their lovely families <3
