There’s something so awe-inspiring about newborn babies. They’re the culmination of the nine month journey of pregnancy, and so much hope and love has been poured into them before they’ve even arrived!

I love how artistic newborn sessions allow me to be - creating beautiful images for you and capturing this precious and fleeting time in their lives.

I'm honored to create timeless keepsakes for you cherish for a lifetime!

  • I recommend booking your newborn session within the first 5-14 days of baby’s birth. While I do photograph older newborns, the younger they are the sleepier and more flexible they are, which means a smoother session and more time for photos instead of soothing baby!

If mom isn’t quite feeing up to being out and about yet, or baby isn’t feeding properly holding off on the newborn session can be a good idea.

  • Yes! As my client, you have access to our extensive gown closet which can be used with newborns as well as maternity sessions. You can find our gown gallery here. (I love it when mom wears a gown during her maternity and then again for her newborn baby photos!)

    • Keep clothing choices neutral - simple always looks best. I encourage you to bring both a dark option for the darker backdrop and an outfit in lighter colours like whites, creams, and light greys for the lighter backdrop.

    • Avoid patterns and overly bright colours. No logos or large decals! They look dated and messy. We don't recommend turtlenecks or high-trend looks.

    • Make sure all clothing is wrinkle and pill free.

You’re welcome to bring a few outfit options to your session and we can help you select, or you can contact me in the days prior to your session with outfit photos for my input.

Also, the studio is kept warm for baby so if you'll be in the photos I encourage you to bring a comfortable change of clothes. There’s also a high chance of being pooped, peed, or spit up on! (It’s a common occurrence, so be prepared! We’re very used to it!)

  • Yes! We love it when client’s bring something meaningful to them to their sessions. They make your session even more uniquely “you”!. We often have clients bringing sentimental items like:

    • wedding rings, veils, or saris

    • their own baby jewelry from when they were little, or jewelry that belonged to a loved one

    • stuffed animals

    • personal blankets

    • sports memorabilia

    • items of cultural significance

    • something that is representative of mom and dad like a beloved hobby or job

Just make sure to let us know ahead of time what you’re bringing so that I can plan on how I’m gong to incorporate it in to your session.

  • I have tons of wraps and props that we’ll use for your sessions no need to worry about this!

Generally newborns are not done in outfits, although you may bring one for family photos if we’re doing them. I recommend sticking to something simple like a onesie and to avoid any themes or characters that will be distracting in the photos.

  • No! Flaky skin and acne is very normal for babies. Afterall, they’ve recently had quite the change in environment after being birthed! Even though many parents know this, they still feel worried or self-conscious during newborn sessions. Most professional photos are of babies are smooth and glowing, but here’s the secret: not all of them arrive at the studio that way! No matter how bumpy, flaky, red, or blotchy baby is, we reduce or remove it by hand during retouching. (But are happy to keep it in by request.)
